Halloween: Poltergeist

Poltergeist is a 1982 horror movie that was diluted with two bad sequels. It was directed by Tobe Hooper and written by some guy named Steven Spielberg.

When I was a little kid this movie scared the living crap out of me, however the horror hasn’t held up very over the years. In some scenes the special effects are so laughable that it makes me wonder what I was ever scared in the first place. Overall, the movie is a bit on the sappy side, not so scary (anymore) and has a pretty dumb ending. I would suggest you watch this movie for nostalgia value only.

Halloween: Eraserhead

Halloween is a good time to watch horror movies (they also pump me up for the new Snowy episode).

First up, after hearing about it for over ten years, I finally watched David Lynch’s Eraserhead. The movie was released in 1979.

This movie is very strange, dark, and hard to understand. So needless to say, it’s not for everyone. As an artist, I can appreciate what that went into this movie. It’s easy to see that the director (David Lynch) spent a great deal of time on creating and maintaining a bizarre atmosphere and an unusual method of storytelling. I found the movie to be enjoyable, even though I’m still not sure what the hell was going on half the time.

Cyberen has joined the blog!

And you know, Ladies and Gents, I could easily link to some depressing news story right now. But it's important to realize that there exists a persistent duality in existence. Yin and Yang. Dark and Light. Both have a purpose, and although we constantly strive for the light, without darkness we wouldn't know where the light is. So here's a little video to remind you of it.

And if you want something gritty and depressing, come on, it's not that hard to find. Go find it yourself. You can be a man and like something pretty too.
